چکیده

The present article describes preparation, characterization, and physical properties of nanoparticles-filled composites consisting of multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) and styrene-butadiene rubber and nitrilebutadiene rubber. The reinforcing MWCNT fillers were synthesized by chemical vapor deposition on iron and cobalt catalysts supported by calcium carbonate substrates. These MWCNT were further treated with nitric acid to produce hydroxyl and carbonyl functional groups on the carbon nanotubes (CNT) surfaces. Of particular importance is that these functionalized CNTs were found to exert profound influence on the elastomeric matrices, particularly the vulcanization activation energy, resistance to solvent swelling, enhanced glass transition temperature, and improved storage and loss moduli. Preparation and characterization of carbon nanotube reinforced silicon nitride composites

Multiwall carbon nanotube (MWNT) reinforced silicon nitride ceramics matrix composites have been prepared. The hot isostatic press (HIP)-sintering method was used for composite processing. Bending strength and elastic modulus of MWNT-silicon nitride composites showed a considerable improvement compared to matrices with added carbon fiber, carbon black or graphite. However, the silicon nitride s...

Synthesis and Characterization of Anatase-coated Multiwall Carbon Nanotube for Improvement of Photocatalytic Activity

Sol-gel technique was used to coat multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) with anatase titania to increasing the surface area and improve the photocatalytic activity of TiO2. Room temperature ballistic conduct of MWCNT combined with semiconducting behavior of anatase brought about a photocatalytic improvement of ~37 % with respect to the highest methyl orange decolorization flair. For characteriza...

Mechanical, Electrical and Electro-Mechanical Properties of Thermoplastic Elastomer Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene/Multiwall Carbon Nanotubes Composites

Composites of styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) block copolymer with multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) were processed by solution casting in order to investigate the influence of filler content, the different ratio of styrene/butadiene in the copolymer and the architecture of the SBS matrix on the electrical, mechanical and electro-mechanical properties of the composites. It was found that fille...

Dielectric Properties of Composites Containing Silicone Rubber and Multiwall Carbon Nanotubes Decorated with Gold

The dielectric permittivity and losses of composites containing silicon rubber and multiwall carbon nanotubes decorated with gold were measured on wide temperature and frequency ranges. The permittivity decreases with increasing temperatures, increases with increasing nanotube mass concentration, and has weak frequency dependence. The losses depend non-uniformly on temperature and frequency.

Artificial Neural Network Based Prediction Hardness of Al2024-Multiwall Carbon Nanotube Composite Prepared by Mechanical Alloying

In this study, artificial neural network was used to predict the microhardness of Al2024-multiwall carbon nanotube(MWCNT) composite prepared by mechanical alloying. Accordingly, the operational condition, i.e., the amount of reinforcement, ball to powder weight ratio, compaction pressure, milling time, time and temperature of sintering as well as vial speed were selected as independent input an...
